Question:

Do you guys have any thoughts on/experiences with CWD saddles?  I sat in a couple recently and the mono-flap in particular was very comfortable, but wondering if anyone has one...how they wear/last?  Thanks. 5/27/09 10:32 AM-Asked by Jess

Answer:

We have looked at the CWD saddles in our travels to the various trade shows and decided that the quality/price ratio really wasn't a good fit for us.  I have also seen a few at the horse shows over the last several years.  I am the first to admit that if a particular saddle suits the horse as well as the rider (checkbook included) it should be considered.  Although seemingly well balanced, they looked to be cheaply put together and I didn't think that it would wear well, especially for someone who rides quite a few horses a day.  As far as horse fit, I really don't remember thinking that they looked to be configured in a way that would suit a variety of horses.  The saddle may be similar to the Butet in that it either fits well or not at all.  It just wasn't one that impressed me...just another "French type" saddle.  I have yet to have anyone ask about them in the store and/or heard anyone comment favorably on one that they have.  I hope this helps and that I haven't confused the issue.  Thanks for the query!

Question:  What's the best shampoo for manure stains on a grey horse?
8/4/2005 11:22:46 AM- Asked by Danielle
Answer:  I know what's the most popular which is quik Silver but I personally believe that Ultra's Super White does a bit better job. It originally was suggested to me by some folks who bred and showed Arabians. Yes, we can learn from the other guys!

Question: Hello,
We are looking for tall boots, sizes 9(man) and 5.5(woman) preferably with zippers. What is the advantage of boots without zippers? What boots would you recommend?
11/17/2006 7:25:00 AM- Asked by Jan
Answer: Thanks for your inquiry.
The advantage to boots with zippers is that you would be able to get the best possible fit from ankle to top. For example: without a zipper those with a high instep desiring a dress boot would end up with a rather sloppy fit around the ankle since the heel/instep measurement dictates how large the "throat" needs to be in order to pull it on. A field boot (laces @ arch) only minimizes this since the laces allow it to be opened to a certain extent.
The downside of zippers is that they can be prone to failure due to excessive bending, dirt, sweat, stress and just day to day use. The consumer has to weigh out which is of most importance; convenience and fit over possible down time to have them repaired.
We carry Ariat and Sergio Grasso boots with zips and measure for Dehner and Vogel custom boots which can have zips.
A recommendation would be difficult without knowing more about you and what kind of riding you do; Fox Hunting, Eventing, Showing, Pleasure Riding. If you are willing to fill in some blanks for me I'd be happy to take a stab at what might suit your purpose best.

Yes, Ariat does have a shoe repair service for their boots. We can provide you with a form to fill out as well as the shipping envelope (postage prepaid) to send your boots in for a "reconditioning". The cost for a pair of paddock boots is $55 payable directly to Ariat.

Question: Hi - I just bought a wonderful QH gelding and unfortunately my medium/wide Niedersuess does not fit him. He's got a very wide and flat back so was wondering if you could recommend a good brand/style. I googled "wide back" and saw the Duett sit and they listed you all as a dealer. Do you usually have new or used in stock? Do you "help" with fittings on site? I am in Great Falls, VA.
3/20/2007 11:07:35 AM- Asked by Sonia Webb
Answer: Hi Sonia and thanks for your inquiry. We do carry the Duett saddles and they specialize in the type of horse you describe. It is a dressage sadle you are looking have for him? If so, I can send you pictures of the saddles they offer or you can have a look at their website and decide what interests you and let me know. In the meantime I do have a few other models in stock which we might use to fit your horse so we know just what size to ask for in the dressage model of your choice. Let me know how you'd like to proceed.
